Recent research and studies by Telephia and comScore have revealed that the amount of people using their mobile devices to browse the internet is now one fifth the amount of conventional PC internet users.
Who are these mobile web users? The research has found that 67% of the users are under thirty five years of age and 63% of the users were male.
This is really important information for those companies who are interested in marketing to this audience. Mobile search engine optimisation should soon become an integral part of many companies marketing strategies.

Yahoo has tightened up their advertising policy with regards to gambling website. Advertisers are no longer allowed to be seen to invite users to gamble or mention prizes or mention money in their adverts, although you are still able to mention terms such as ‘poker’.
Yahoo has changed their policy to ensure they comply with Gambling Commission laws passed in the UK last year.

Scientist James Edwards has announced their plans to put together a definitive online encyclopaedia of all known animal and plant life, in excess of 1.8 million named species. This will be the first place that scientists and members of the public alike will be able to find information on all species in one place.
The encyclopaedia is likely to cost $100 million and there will be two initial grants of $12.5 million. The project is scheduled to take ten years to complete with approximately 25 to 30 people being employed to run and maintain the site.

Jim Sterne at Stone Temple Consulting on May 7, 2007 published a 2007 interim report detailing accuracy and reporting differences / discrepancies of a number of industry standard website analytics software packages.
Although there are undoubtedly discrepancies in the information the various software reports to you, Jim Sterne makes the very valid point “If your yardstick measures 39 inches instead of 36 inches, it’s still great to have a measurement tool”, basically your software even if not 100% accurate provides a benchmark for your statistics as your software will always lack accuracy by the same percentage; so day by day you will know if you have comparatively gained or lost traffic.
The report is very interesting and in depth, well worth a read if you are interested in website analytics. The full report with the final results is due out in July of 2007, which will undoubtedly provide a lot of insight into the website analytics software on review.
